Why I love NYX Cosmetics' Loose Pearl Eye Shadow

I came across these gems a few months ago while browsing the NYX counter at Clicks, and I ended up buying one pot to try out at home, mainly because I'm obsessed with the brand and also the price - one pigment pot is only R95. No joke, a week later I went back to Clicks and bought a few more.

What I love about them?

The lighter pearl shades are amazing to use as highlighting eye shadows on your lids - I literally only use these to highlight the inner corners of the eyes and I'm always so happy with the finish and colour pay-off. The lighter shades are great for when you're not in the mood for intense or heavy eye makeup and simply want a subtle, pearly shimmer on your lids.

The 'White Pearl' shade above (on the left) is a great dupe for MAC's vanilla pigment, which I must add is ALWAYS sold out (I've honestly given up trying to get my hands on it). I used 'White Pearl' on Mari from Martez Model Management who modelled for Gemma and I in a recent beauty shoot...

With these pots, fallout may be an issue for some but its never been a problem for me. I think it all comes down to what kind of brush you use to apply these, so try and use a miniature, round blending brush when applying these pigments to the inner corners of your eyes.

Also, they're really great to wear over the entire lid. I prefer dabbing the colour on first with my fingertips and then using a flat concealer brush to layer more on.

Below are swatches of the 'White Pearl' and 'Nude' pigments; both available at Clicks.
